Fido, "Fido," Arf.

How did I get mucked up in the question of proper names, again? I suppose this is what comes of my patented linking library book selection method. Look up an author, get distracted by a word, look up the word, look up a different author, find that book, get distracted by the book next to it, take that home. Suddenly end up researching theory of description at work.

I don't feel compelled to read for writing, exactly, but it's always a consideration. (Because why wouldn't it be? It's all for using. That's my favorite part.) That said, the whole given use bit of referential proper-name theory appeals to me for its... I don't know, not utilitarianism, precisely, but something similar. Emphasis on meaning via use, the name only pointing to the referent because we have been around to do the pointing. On the other hand, big long game of Telephone. Direct acquaintance? Undefined? Unlikely? Both.

What?
Moving on: transparencies. Laying things over one another and making simultaneity out of disparate possibilities.
What facets of things can be mashed together, made simultaneous?
In time, space, what else? If I pick this place -- no, event -- situation? -- possibility. HA. Last resort! "Possibility."
Say, for example (!), a bullfight:

In that space: all the other bulls, all the other matadors, picadors, horses. Men coming in to lay more sand over the old blood. Constructing the ring. A big field where they used to -- what?
In that time: outward, concentric circles, other bullfights elsewhere, people out in the street, staying in, asleep, in bed, eating, fighting each other, diagnoses, life laid on.
In that bull, or in that matador: mindspace and real space. Memory and predictions, practice laying itself down on reality.
Constants: motion repeated, color, sound. Atomic facts? Christ! No! Yes!
Laying other elaborations over the construct of the bullfight. Shaking the bull and man and sword and cape all out and inserting other things in. Trying them out.
Sort by perspective: conflate. The sword driven in is the same as the sword received, in space and time. Two totally different things are going on, though, more than two, thousands and more. And still only one thing is happening.
